Kenya - Suppressed or Restricted Information
In recent years, the struggle in Kenya has intensified due to neoliberal austerity and neocolonial domination. Most recently, proposed tax increases resulted in the Kenya Finance Bill protests which was a mass uprising aimed at fighting against this bill. The younger generation of progressive- and revolutionary-minded Kenyans has resulted in two organizations playing a major role in these protests: the Communist Party of Kenya (CPK) and the Communist Party Marxist Kenya (CPM-K), which split with the CPK in 2022. While the CPK has sought to maintain alliances with other parties in the Kenya Kwanza coalition (which includes President William Ruto and his United Democratic Alliance party), the CPM-K has maintained it's independence and aligned itself with younger progressives and revolutionaries, as well as the Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU-K).
We at BANNEDTHOUGHT.NET oppose the suppression of news and information whether it is done through force or through economics. There can be no true democracy or freedom where only the ideas acceptable to the exploiting ruling class are allowed to reach the people. On this site we will do what we can to make available news and documents related to the Kenyan struggle which are mostly unknown rest of the world.
If you know of other documents or items which should be made available here, or other organizations that should be represented, contact us at: freespeech@bannedthought.net
