Interview of Com. C.P. Gajurel From the Central Prison, Chennai

(This interview was taken by janadesh weekly and sent to the People’s arch e-mail account.... Editor)

JANADESH: You are in continued detention for the past 3 months. What do you feel about your present detention?

C.P.GAJUREL: I was mentally prepared for this detention even before my arrest. I have no regret and I am not in a hurry to go out any way. There should be no misunderstanding to anybody that I will be making compromises personally. I have nothing to do. I won’t do anything contrary to the decision of the party. It depends on the decision of the party. I am ready to live in prison for a length of time for the cause of revolution. For the cause of revolution, I am determined more than before. I would like to convey this message to all revolutionary masses and the World.

JANADESH: Prison and torture would demoralize any person; being a revolutionary, do you feel being harassed? Is there any damage caused to your courage and confidence?

C.P.GAJUREL: In history, some people breakdown in the course of torture. Being a Communist revolutionary, I don’t feel being harassed and there is no decrease in my determination and aim. I know that the real test of a revolutionary is during the time of torture and difficulty. I am confident that I will come out of this test successfully.

JANADESH: What are the conditions prevailing in the prison?

C.P.GAJUREL: The conditions in the prison are not good for me. The climate of this place is extremely hot. The prison authorities have out right rejected my first class facility (political class). The Judicial Magistrate of Alandur has also rejected my application for first class on the ground that if I am provided with such facilities, that will endanger the security of the Indian State. I have decided not to prefer an appeal to the High Court. Absolutely, no facilities have been provided to me including a fan or radio. Even for petty things, I am driven to meet the Superintendent of the prison. I am detained as a simple prisoner on par with other professional offenders. But all these difficulties will not deter my determination.

JANADESH: What is your message to your committee?

C.P.GAJUREL: Comrades, who are leading a very important People’s war with all their capacities, I have nothing to say from inside the prison that too in a foreign country. I don’t think it correct to make any comments from inside a trench. It is up to the party to decide whether I have to stay here or come out, depending on the necessity of the revolutionary movement.

JANADESH: Recently a Committee has been formed by various organizations in India to save your life. What is your message to them?

C.P.GAJUREL: First of all I would like to greet them and I convey my revolutionary congratulations and revolutionary gratitude to all my friends, people and to the whole revolutionary masses. You are fighting to save my life and for my release. Again I would like to convey my revolutionary gratitude to those who have mobilized the masses to propagate my detention internationally. I think solidarity expressed in carrying out this task is not confined only to save my life, but also it expresses or manifests solid-arity of the Indian revolutionary forces and masses to the ongoing revolution of Nepal.

JANADESH: What do you want to say to your fighting Nepali masses?

C.P.GAJUREL: I would like to say to the fighting Nepali masses that our People’s War is a total war and we have to fight in various fronts. The Nepali masses are fighting vigorously and valiantly sacrificing their lives and I would like to assure the masses that I will be fighting up to the end in which front I am here.
