Press Statement

We Are Grieved

The Party is deeply grieved to hear of the death of 14 people including villagers, APSRTC staff, two nurses and a school teacher and the injury of many in a landmine blast of a bus in Eturnagaram area near Chintagudem village, Warangal District, A.P. It is yet not clear whether this was a mistaken action of the PGA guerrillas or an act of the police to discredit our Party. It is the police that attacks the people while the Party and the PGA fighters focus its attack on the enemies of the people. The issue is being investigated and the Party will come out with a full report into this incident. But if it was a serious error on the part of the PGA we express our unconditional apology to the masses and, in particular, the families of those affected by the bomb blast.

We are deeply affected by the death of the civilians in the bus blast, more particularly because they are from villages where the Party has a strong base and would have comprised sympathisers of the Party. We share the sorrows of the families and vow to share their burden for the rest of their lives. There is an indivisible bond between the people and the Party, and their sorrow is our sorrow. Who ever might be responsible, the needs of the bereaved families must be looked after immediately.

Having said this, we also strongly condemn the brutal gunning down of five comrades a day earlier involved in a cultural camp in the neighbouring Ilapuram area. The fascistic TDP government while talking trash about joining the mainstream, is unwilling to tolerate even such peaceful activities as song, dance and drama. We pay homage to the heroic comrades involved in the camp, both cultural workers and others that were part of the training. It is quite natural that the masses and PGA fighters would try to retaliate in their own way.

Our Party is fighting a battle for justice and liberation of the people. The TDP and its cruel leader, Chandrababu Naidu is a chief hack of the moneybags and the imperialist World Bank and TNCs. The police act on their behalf killing hundreds of people throughout AP and imprisoning thousands no matter if their agitation is peaceful or violent. When a policeman is injured they even send helicopters, but when the people died and were injured, on flimsy pretext they did not come even for a day.

While fighting on behalf of the masses, errors do occur but the Party strains every nerve to see that the masses are in no way harmed. Whatever errors occur, we publicly admit and unconditionally apologise and ask forgiveness of the masses. If there is an error of the Party it will do serious discussions within it and plan remedial measures.

We appeal to all the justice loving people of AP to fight against the repressive policies of the TDP government and their disastrous economic policies, which are pushing millions to the brink of starvation. Today thousands are facing starvation in AP, there have been hundreds of such deaths throughout rural AP. We appeal to all genuine democrats to not get carried away by the malicious propaganda and crocodile tears of the TDP rulers.
