US Terrorism Declares to Rampage Through Poor Countries

— G. Fellow

Bush the butcher has declared to rampage through the not-so-obedient countries of the third world. He has threatened them with the words "if the timid nations don’t act, we will." This is more than the gun-boat diplomacy. It is an open threat of "either this, or else..." to impose the only super power’s will over other countries, nations and peoples. He has demanded unreserved obedience from the rulers of many countries so that they act according to the wishes of the US or the US will launch war on them and change the governments. He wants countries to behave like the Musharraf government of Pakistan or face the consequences like that of Afghanistan. The Terrorist United States of America (TUSA) is contempliting a world conquest expedition by punishing and destroying the countries and putting new governments who will wag their tails as Hamid Karzai, Musharraf, Vajpayee and Yassir Arafat, Arroyo and Sukarnoputri etc. are doing.

In his state of the Union address in January last the US president told the world that an "axis of evil" exists in the world which ought to be smashed, along with a dozen or so other countries who hold the "civilized" world to ransom with their weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and "support for the terrorists". By the term "evil axis" he points to Iraq, Iran and North Korea who, according to him, are "the world’s most dangerous regimes" that are threatening the lords of the earth. He said, "The US will not permit" these regimes in their "dangerous" designs. Taking on itself the onus of charting the course of world history hence forword he declared that he "will not stand by as peril draws closer and closer", that he "will not wait on events while danger gathers." In his 50 minute speech of jingoism and bellicosity he spewed venom and hatered towards these states by declaring them as "outlaw regimes". It is better to call his address as state of the world address as he spoke as if the whole world is in his jurisdiction and he will act as the "judge, the prosecutor and the executioner" (as an editorial of a newspaper has put it) himself alone. No doubt he is the leader of world’s only super power and considers himself above everyone on this earth, a king of the whole world. The arrogance he displayed in the US congress was clapped 77 times by those seated before him indicating that he has a whole legion of enthusiasts behind him to threaten the world’s people.

The leaders of the most powerful capitalist democracy of the world were cheering their chief to trample, shoot and bomb. Bush and his legion has come to learnt after sept 11 that the US is sitting on a volcano and enemies of the empire are all around. His jingoist pronouncements are a sign of desperation that has gripped the Godfather.

State of the world address by USA president had little to say about the union. Whatever reference he made to the recession inflicting the union was related to war making abroad that will put the US economy back on its feet by 2005. So the clappings were not surprising as various commentators thought while criticising the US bellicosity and aggressiveness.

The threat to the "Axis of evil" has less to do with the so-called war on terrorism by the US super-power and more with the building of Nuclear Missile Defense system for itself. His perceived fears and warnings that these States can deliver WMDs to the "terrorists" thus threatening it, is already known as an entirely hollow and misrepresenting arguement. The purpose of US Terrorists goes far beyond: to stay in the world as a top dog in anticipation of a future imperialist war among big powers themselves, and, their closely allied regimes. In the aftermath of September 11 the US has been unable to link Iraq, Iran or North Korea with any of the "terrorist organisations". Iran even lent its cooperation to the "coalition" during the war on Afghanistan due to its own long standing hostelity towards the Taliban regime. Even Britain has strongly contradicted and protested against Bush’s clubbing of Iran with Iraq and N. Korea. As far as the NMD and the Saddam Hussain regime of Iraq is concerned Britain is the closest ally of the U.S. but with Iran opening up to the West it sees many opportunities being thrown up if not about the central Asian oil then of the huge resources Iran itself has. Blair took a keen interest in Iran during the build up to the US aggression on Afghanistan. The British foreign minister Jack Straw has strongly contradicted the US by saying : [Bush’s speech was] best understood by the fact that there are mid-term congressonal elections coming up in November." About Iran he says, "As far as I am concerned the relationship we have enables us to have very frank conversations with Iran". Though there is no official comment from the British Government British media has branded Bush’s speech as "unnecessarily aggressive" and have suggested "to draw a line beyond which it would not be dragged into American Plans."

On the other other hand, Iran’s religious leadership has condemned Bush’s word as "bellicose and insulting" expressing the "will" to fight back. Iranian president Mohammad Khatami still has sounded that Iran can continue to have dialogue with the US. His compromising attitude is likely to prevail. Also not all in the US administration are happy with Bush’s characterisation about Iran and seek an accommodation but Bush wants Iran altogether out, as a competitor for transporting central Asian Oil. The monster is out to impose its will over others. Iran has been accused by the US that it has allowed the Taliban and the Al Qaeda men to flee through Iran. Iran, though, refutes the US charges and its govt. leaders speak in a defensive tone.

The heat being turned on Iraq is understandable. US wants Saddam out and a new administration installed that would allow US oil companies major contracts thus edging out the EU countries from usurping the main profits. But this is not that easy for the US to translate into reality due to the opposition from France and Germany. And the US may revert to imposing "smart sanctions" for which even Russia now seems ready to cooperate. Still if the US decides to strike Iraq it will be difficult to militarily dislodge Saddam without the support of anti Saddam Kurds or Shias — a carbon copy of foot soldiers as was the case in Afghanistan. Saddam is taking care not to provide any plea to the US for an attack as well as is strengthening it’s relations with the EU countries. Moreover, an unprovoked attack by the US would further isolate it in the eyes of the European countries and may give rise to widespread protests of the Arab masses putting thier respective govts. in a very odd situation. That may prove an adventure too costly for the US. Iraq has termed the US "axis of evil" characterisation as "stupid and indecent". It neither has WMDs nor missiles as alleged by the US and the world too knows this. Iraq is not expecting an all out war over it by the US warmongerness and is readying itself to face smart sanctions as it has formed the impression that Russia and EU are not strong enough to oppose smart sanctions by the US in spite of the fact that they have plans to go into oil deals with it. They may not even be active opponents of the US if the latter decides to take on Iraq. The hound, after all, is on the prowl.

With the aggression on Afghanistan, the US made the "timid" military ruler of Pakistan a ‘bold’ and ‘courageous’ man who followed the US dictat to pounce upon Jaish and other Muslim groups in spite of being reluctant. Vajpayee and his company could not actively participate in the war but they did their share by pouncing upon Muslim and democratic forces and took fascist measures to crush opposition to the US war on Afghanistan declaring that whosoever opposes the "war on terrorism" is anti-national. Nothing to speak of widespread arrests of Muslim activists and innocent people it also used guns to kill the protesters.

Khatami Kowtows before America

Under open US threats to made Iran a target of US aggression the Iranian president has further bowed down his head. He has pledged to crackdown on any Al-Qaeda or Taliban men that might have crossed into Iran and pleaded at the same time that it is difficult to man the long border with Afghanistan to prevent any such entry. For this he has sought American co-operation. At the same time, he has told the US that Iran would expel Gulbuddin Hikmatyar from Iran. Hikmatyar has been suddenly transformed into an "enemy of the Iranian people" though he had been staying in Iran as a guest and ally of the Islamic republic for five years. This has come after the US allegations that Iran is interfering in the internal affairs of Afghanistan through its cronies. It was a reference to Hikmatyar who had threatened to fight against the US forces occupying Afghanistan after he was spurned and did not get a post in the post-Taliban interim arrangement. He was sidelined in Bonn because he had aired his opposition to the impending US aggression on Afghanistan post Sept. 11.

The Iranian president Khatami has responded to the US threat through appeasement. For him the Satan has proved nearer than Allah.

Philippines president Arroyo Macapagal invited the US to crush Abu Sayyaf group in Philippines and pounced on Moro National Liberation Front and Moro Islamic Liberation Front to crush national aspirations of the Moro people. This invited protests from various sections of the Fillipino people to the US army involvement in the domestic affairs of the Philippines.

Arafat declared from his confinement in Ramallah town that he will crush those who carry on armed acts on Israel and threaten ‘peace process’ with the Zionist State. This he did under the shadow of Israeli tank missiles in a most shameful way well knowing that the ‘peace process’, and he himself, is at the mercy of Israeli fascist terror tactics and guns.

There were reports that the US is contemplating armed action in Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Syria and a number of other Muslim States. These are the ones that are included in a "dozen other countries" about which Bush spoke in his fascist address on the State of the Union.

Nepal has already been provided with US helicopters to be used against Maoist forces. Irish rebels, Basque militants, European Muslims and Colombians are perhaps next on the list as immediate targets. Syria, Sudan and Somalia have been branded by Bush as countries "which have been lying low post-september 11," and he has threatened to take on these ‘low lying’ countries if they don’t become ‘courageous’ like Musharraf of Pakistan. He has threatened to dismantle their governments and instal new ones. Libya, having accepted intimidation long ago, has also kept quiet throughout and is contemplating paying the US $6 billion as compensation for the Lockerbie plane explosion without ever demanding of the US to pay for downing the Libyan civilian plane in 1980.

As Bush had said after Sept 11 that his war "may continue for years" he not only has a long list of targets but has given himself (or America) the right to smash hammer on any head at any time it thinks appropriate. Here there is no "coalition" at work. The super scoundrel of the only super power speaks alone about the so-called war on terrorism throughout the world. No world body, no organisation, no country has the right to counsel otherwise. It is an irony of times that no other major power has the courage or capacity to oppose the US in a decisive way. Only sections of people in various countries are daring to come on streets to oppose the US fascists, war acts and bellicose behaviour. The US is testing its armaments to launch and win wars from a safe distance. At the same time, it is bent upon restricting the right of other nations (non-nuclear club) to produce arms necessary for their own defence. The US president has asked the Congress for an increase of $ 50 billion in the next defence budget that will thus raise the total to more than three hundreds and fifty billions, by saying that "our state is at war". This is how the US led New World Order is evolving. The promise of a "safer, free and prosperous world" after the end of Cold War needs no comments. The whole farce has brought itself to the fore, before the very eyes of the World. From Iraq to Serbia to Afghanistan, the ‘peace’ is still ellusive and more than dozen other countries are to be terrorised in this pursuit. The new millenium witnessed the first millennium war in its very first year and one of the poorest countries of the world was reduced to dust and not even photos or reporting of the devastation was allowed. Prisoners were murdered with impunity. Every act of defence was crushed with force and the people were told that "justice’ was being meted out to criminals and enemies of the "civilization". It is how the US intends to lord over the world in the next hundred years to make "another American century". The dream of the US rulers to stay at the top and maintain the America at N0 1 position. It is a criminal dream of the super rogue state of the world.

The last century has been a great century of revolutions in different lands of the world. The ‘victory’ of the US in the final decade does in no way make it an American century. Nither the next century will belong to the number one enemy of the world people. It is already dogged by the opposition of the people in almost all continents and countries of the planet. It must remember its remesis in Vietnam and the blows of the great anti-imperalist struggles in Asia, Africa and Latin America, and above all, the great Russian proletarian Revolution and the revolutions in China. Various kinds of experiments in social revolt have definitely left the people with a rich heritage of experience and knowledge. And these are there to help unleash a new wave of revolutions on a qualitatively higher and vast plane. The discontent of the people is simmering as never before and their wrath is convulsing beneath the fault lines to come up and engulf the whole continents. Already, the people are continuing to hold in front of the vicious enemy assault in various countries, especially where Maoists are putting up brave fights. The Middle-East is seething with anger, Latin Americans are beginning to rise again against the power of global capital. Africa is already in trumoil with no corner of it to be characterised as "peaceful". The proletariat and peasants in the Third World are under such a great pressure and oppressive living condions that they are waiting for the sparks to ignite their anger. The proletariat and middle classes in the advanced world are beginning to come on to streets after many decades of relative peace. The world has become a dangerous place to live and the people are increasingly seeking for ways to turn this dangerous place upside down so that life can be made easy and worth living. The enemy is on the prowl and the people are waiting for the right alternative to emerge.

The onus of taking great initiatives lies on the proletariat to ignite and guide the voices of protest and give a revolutionary vent to the anger of the masses. The challenges have knocked at the door and responses must shape up to take on them. Let us declare that this new century will not belong to the enemies of the people. Enough of oppression and enough of "crusades" ! The red banner of revolutionary traditions must make strides everywhere and unite various forces of resistance in its fold to meet these challenges and to destroy the empire of evil for a new world without imperialism.
