CPI(ML)[People’s War] Opposes Jingoist War Frenzy

. The Central Committee of the CPI(ML)(PW) strongly condemns the Indian government’s war preparations and the jingoist frenzy of anti- Pakistan rhetoric. It appeals to the peace loving people of India to oppose the government’s war mongering and demand the de-escalation of tensions between the two countries.

The war-mongering in the name of protecting the sovereignty of the country is shameless and absurd, coming from the same government which has shown the utmost servility and utter disregard for sovereignty, while serving the interests of the US superpower in its so-called war against terrorism. It has declared open house by blatantly offering military bases and all sorts of facilities to the US and Britain in their naked aggression on Afghanistan, one of the poorest countries in the world. It justified the horrendous bombing on towns and countryside for months together without caring in the least for the sovereignty of other nations. Now it is crying hoarse that the attack on the Parliament is attack on sovereignty! Anyway the Indian ruling classes have already surrendered our sovereignty many times over, by opening the doors for indiscriminate loot and plunder in the name of liberalization.

The war preparations are aimed at suiting the narrow interests of BJP in the February assembly elections, especially in UP. The BJP came to power in the wake of the Ramjanmabhoomi campaign. The crumbling BJP government could manage to cling to power in the aftermath of Kargil. Now the December 13th attack has come as a blessing in disguise. The BJP has already declared that terrorism is the issue in the coming elections. Add anti-Pakistan hysteria and anti-Muslim rhetoric and national chauvinistic jingoism! The Indian ruling classes have long forgotten the basic problems of Indian people!!

For the Indian people, the war will be a cruel irony. The decline in the living conditions in both rural and urban areas is already reaching alarming proportions. Growing poverty, unemployment, suicide deaths of peasantry, closure of industries, retrenchments and ever escalating prices are breaking the back of the people. The Kargil war consumed Rs.6000 crores of the Indian people’s money. The more the body bags, the more the coffins, probably more will be the profits to the rulers.

The CPI(ML)[People’s War] pledges to actively oppose the hypocritical and unjust war plans of the ruling classes. It appeals to all sections of Indian People to stand up and fight back the Indian governments’ designs.
