Central Committee (Provisional)

Hail the Onward March of Sri Lankan Tamils for their Liberation

The fall of the Elephant Pass military base and further advancement of the LTTE guerrilla fighters towards re-capturing Jaffna city has taken a qualitative turn in the two-decades long Tamil liberation war in Sri Lanka. The Central Committee of CPI (M-L) [People’s War] is appealing to all freedom-loving people and revolutionary and democratic organisations to extend their support and show solidarity to the Sri Lanka TamiI liberation fighters. The Tamil liberation struggle of Sri Lanka is a just people’s struggle which is an inseparable part of the world people’s struggle against imperialism and its subservient ruling classes in the under-developed countries. This heroic battle of Tamil people against the Sinhalese chauvinist ruling classes is inspiring all the oppressed nations world over to follow the path of armed struggle with an uncompromising resolve to fight for their self-determination including the right to secession which is the basic right of all nations.

The frustrated Sri Lankan government has appealed to all the imperialist and reactionary governments for help to fight the Tamil Tigers particularly to rescue some 30 thousand of their troops encircled by the Tamil fighters in the Jaffna city. Already many imperialist powers and other reactionary governments have extended their support to the Sri Lankan government. The USA and France have moved their warships near Sri Lanka in the Indian Ocean to put pressure on the Tamil fighters. Israel has sent its commando forces along with sophisticated war planes which have started immediate bombing of Tamil guerrilla positions around Jaffna city. The most reactionary war-mongers and imperialists have joined hands to suppress the just struggle of the Tamils and once again exposed their true colours.

Before entering directly to assist the Sri Lankan government, Indian rulers are trying to mould its people’s opinion in favour of the Indian government’s military move. Because, way back at the time of 1987, the Indian Peace Keeping Force was deployed in Sri Lanka but the people of India and Sri Lanka opposed the hegemonic approach and intervention of Indian forces in that conflict. Finally the force was forced to retreat with shame. To cover up its position the Indian government is waiting for the right moment to enter directly into the ongoing war in Sri Lanka. On the one hand it ordered the three service chiefs to prepare the forces, particularly the Navy and Air Force to act within the given time once the government took the decision. On the other hand, the government is trying its level best to change the people’s opinion in favour of its decisions through the print and electronic media.

In the mean time it extended the ban on the LTTE for another 2 years. The Tamil Nadu government on the suggestion of the union home minister Advani rejected permission to any rally or meeting in Tamil Nadu. It is the general character of the State to help another State machinery. The Tamil parties which are part of the NDA government are double speaking on this issue.

At the same time the Indian government is nourishing its expansionist ambitions to serve the role of junior policeman to the world super cop US imperialism in this part of the world. Further India’s present Hindu chauvinist government panicked with the news of the Tamil liberation struggle in Sri Lanka as the advancement and victory of this struggle will inevitably help to flare up all the nationality movements in India which will be a nightmare for the already beleaguered Indian government. The US and Indian governments have found new allies in themselves with the complete surrendering of people’s interests by the Indian government to the heels of the imperialist and US’s acceptance of Indian bullying in this region particularly its support to the Indian position on Kashmir. Now as all these dark forces of reaction have come together and are conspiring to suppress the Tamil liberation struggle of Sri Lanka, it is the duty of all democratic people of the world and of India in particular to support Tamil people’s movement for self-determination, and to oppose any attempt of intervention from any foreign powers in Sri Lanka. expose the unholy alliance of the reactionary governments world over including India and rally public support in favour of the Tamil people and its liberation struggle.

Though world reaction is whipping up anti-Communist propaganda particularly after the fall of the so-called socialist camp led by the Soviet Union, they cannot turn back the inevitable trend of development of world revolution which was formulated prophetically by Corn. Mao Tsetung as "Countries want freedom, Nations want liberation and people want revolution. " So, we find a new upsurge in nationality struggles the world over be it in Chechnya or Afghanistan or Kosovo or Palestine or Iraq or a small country like East Timor on the one hand and the rise of revolutionary struggles under the leadership of communist revolutionaries in Philippines, Peru, India, Nepal, Turkey and so on, on the other. All these struggles have once again proved the Marxist dictum that if a small nation is ready to fight for their liberation and rise in arms unitedly they can defeat any big power of the world, however small may be its own territory and population.

The just struggles of Tamil Eelam will definitely advance to achieve greater victories if they depend on their own strength and unity of their own people and do not become victim of any international conspiracy of "mediation" in some form or other as the imperialists have done in Kosovo or East Timor or in Palestine. We have to keep in mind that the people and people alone are the creators of history and no power on earth can suppress real people’s war.
