Suppression of News in Afghanistan and Political
Statements Prevented from Reaching the People
In Afghanistan, even more than in so many other countries, much of the real news about what is happening to the working class and the poor, is suppressed, or at the very least is not widely reported. The people there face the evils of not only the reactionary religious-based Taliban and similar oppressive forces, but also the invasion of foreign imperialist military forces led by the United States. We at BANNEDTHOUGHT.NET will try to help break down this news embargo by the government and official media about events and political opinions in Afghanistan.
We are also posting some materials by revolutionary groups in Afghanistan, which are either banned there or else extremely difficult to obtain. One such organization is the Communist (Maoist) Party of Afghanistan, whose publication Shola Jawid [“Eternal Flame”] has a website at: http://www.sholajawid.org/update/index_english.html
If you know of other suppressed documents and news reports that should be posted here, contact us at: freespeech@bannedthought.net
